Food adulteration Paragraph
Food adulteration means making food or drink less pure by adding or mixing another substance to it. The dishonest and greedy businessmen adulterate foods for their quick profits. They don’t think how much harm they are doing to the consumers. Actually, the range of adulteration activities is very wide. Nowadays, almost all kinds of foods are being adulterated. In hotels and restaurants, rotten foods are mixed with fresh food and served to the customers. Fish and vegetables are adulterated by putting on them chemicals and other preservatives in order to make them look fresh and to preserve them for a longer time. Bakery and confectionery products are also prepared by using toxic substances. Junk food contains harmful chemicals. Even harmful chemicals are used in fruits, milk, and beverages for profit. Urea is mixed to make ‘muri’ more white and large. Artificial colorants are used in juices and drinks. All these adulterated foods cause serious health hazards. By eating adulterated food one can fall a victim to cancer, cardiac failure, obesity and such other health problems. Therefore, dishonest traders who are involved in food adulteration should be given exemplary punishment. The relevant departments or authorities of the government should be more watchful and vigilant against food adulteration. Above all, necessary laws are to be enacted to catch and punish the food adulterators.
